Registered Nurse (RN) – Mental Health Specialist
Overview:
Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a 6-month contract within a maximum security mental health unit. This vital role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-security healthcare environments, ensuring patient safety and delivering quality care. If you possess strong mental health nursing skills and thrive in challenging settings, this position is an excellent fit to advance your career while making a meaningful impact.
Pay Package:
Competitive hourly rate at $46 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required Skills:
Current and valid Texas (or compact state) RN license
Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience
BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Ability to work 8-hour shift(s) as scheduled
Strong understanding of mental health care protocols and procedures
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Adherence to safety and security regulations in a maximum security setting
Preferred Education and Experience:
Prior experience in mental health or psychiatric nursing, particularly in secure or high-risk environments
Proven ability to handle complex behavioral situations with professionalism and composure
Experience working in forensic or maximum security healthcare units
Other Requirements:
Valid Texas (or compact state) RN license
Successful completion of criminal record check as required by state law
Availability to work flexible hours within the scheduled shift
Must meet all facility-specific security and compliance standards
