Calling all passionate educators! Medical Edge Recruitment is hiring a dedicated Special Education Teacher for an exciting 8-month contract in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri. Job Details – Special Education Teacher

  • Position: Special Education Teacher

  • Location: St. Louis, MO

  • Facility Type: Public School System

  • Pay Rate: $45/hour

  • Contract Length: 8-month contract (starting August)

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7.5-hour shifts
Key Responsibilities – Special Education Teacher
As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll be part of a student-centered team committed to individualized learning success. You will:

  • Develop and implement high-quality IEPs (Individualized Education Programs)

  • Track and report student progress toward special education goals

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families

  • Use differentiated instruction to engage diverse learners

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons

  • Attend and contribute to IEP meetings, reevaluations, and eligibility determinations

  • Support paraprofessionals and lead inclusive classroom strategies

  • Apply your knowledge of IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and FAPE principles

  • Implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)

  • Assist in student transition planning and promote academic, social, and emotional growth
Requirements – Special Education Teacher

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

  • Valid Missouri Teaching License with certification in Special Education

  • Must meet “Highly Qualified” status for core content areas as applicable

  • Passion for special education, individualized instruction, and student advocacy
