Job Description


Job Title: Virtual Teacher for Visually Impaired

Overview:
Join a dedicated educational team as a Virtual Teacher for the visually impaired, providing critical specialized instruction to students with visual impairments. This contract position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning and independence through tailored support and collaboration with school staff, families, and community partners. Play a vital role in ensuring compliance with educational policies and delivering research-based techniques to foster student success.

Pay Package:
$50/hr, with a bill rate of $72/hour. This is a 40-week contract position, offering consistent weekly hours and a competitive hourly rate.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field
  • State teaching certification/licensure with endorsement in Visual Impairments (TVI certification)
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and specialized instructional strategies
  • Strong understanding of braille, assistive technology, low vision devices, and adapted instructional materials
  • Ability to conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments
  • Knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and other relevant policies and compliance standards
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
  • Proficiency with virtual instruction platforms and digital accessibility tools

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Prior teaching experience with students with visual impairments, either in-person or virtual
  • Experience supporting students through individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized services
  • Additional certification in Orientation & Mobility may be preferred but is not always required

Other Requirements:
  • This role requires a valid State Identification.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:50 am to 2:45 pm, totaling 38 hours per week.
  • The position commences two weeks from the offer date and is contingent upon certification and background checks.
