Position Overview
Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment. This position is ideal for a dedicated nurse who thrives in a fast-paced acute care environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.
As a MedSurg RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide variety of medical conditions, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. You will collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure positive patient outcomes and an outstanding patient experience.
Responsibilities
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to physician orders
Monitor patient conditions and report significant changes to providers
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
Delegate tasks appropriately to nursing assistants and ancillary staff
Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation
Promote patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance
Support departmental goals and contribute to a positive team environment
Qualifications
Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association
Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking abilities
Experience with electronic medical records and computer-based charting systems
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Specialty certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing
Previous travel nursing experience
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Ability to perform physically demanding patient care activities, including lifting and repositioning patients
Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and patient handling
Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, and communicable diseases
Potential exposure to hazardous medications and healthcare waste
Must adhere to all infection prevention, safety, and compliance standards
