Job Description
Job Title: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Overview:
Medical Edge Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for an immediate contract opportunity in Iredell, NC. This role offers a vital opportunity to make a positive impact on students with hearing impairments by creating inclusive and tailored educational experiences. Join our team and contribute to empowering students through specialized instruction and innovative teaching methods, all within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Pay Package:
$50 per hour
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
Certification in deaf education
Minimum of 1 year of relevant teaching experience with students who have hearing impairments
Ability to create and implement lesson plans accommodating diverse learning needs
Experience with modifying curricula and using specialized materials
Proficiency in developing and implementing IEPs in collaboration with families and staff
Skilled in using visual aids, sign language, speech therapy techniques, and assistive technology (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems, captioning devices)
Strong communication skills to support language development in spoken and sign language as needed
Preferred Education and Experience:
Prior experience working in a school setting with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies to individual student needs
Other Requirements:
Must hold appropriate state licensure and certification in deaf education
Criminal record check required per state law
Standard school hours: 7:20 am – 2:10 pm, Monday through Friday
Ability and willingness to work in a school environment with potential occasional travel for training or meetings
